Bosnia-Herzegovina World Cup Preview

Bosnia-Herzegovina will have their best ever finish this summer, as this is their very first World Cup. They have the 2^nd best odds to win their group, which is no surprise since they are in the same group as Argentina, who have the 2^nd best odds to win the World Cup overall. The offense for the squad is a good one, but they do not have the best defense. Bosnia-Herzegovina has high hopes this summer and they are a dangerous team that has a legit chance to do some damage.

Bosnia-Herzegovina is in Group F along with Argentina, Nigeria, and Iran. The one thing about the group play is there are 3 teams with a strong attack in them, Argentina, and Nigeria while Iran plays good defense. While they are big underdogs in their first match facing Argentina the betting odds are pretty even facing Nigeria. Those matches are key, as they should have no problems beating Iran in the group finale.

Qualifying

Before European qualifying began Greece had the best odds to win the group, but they finished with the same amount of points as Bosnia-Herzegovina. However, Bosnia-Herzegovina had a better point differential and they took the group, which advanced them to their very forst World Cup. Overall the squad’s offense carried them and out of all the European teams they scored the 4^th most goals. Their big match was facing Greece at home and they beat them 3-1. They were 8-1-1 in the qualifying process.

 

Strengths and Weaknesses

Edin Dzeko is a solid striker from Manchester City and Miralem Pjanic is a creative and offensive minded MF that is great on the attack. The midfield is a good one, but not great and it will be key in group play that Argentina and Nigeria do not dominate them in time of possession. While the back line defense is the weakness of the squad they do have a very good keeper in Asmir Begovic, who plays for Stoke City in the premier league. He will have to come up big if his defenders do not get it done and Argentina will really test him in their World Cup opener.
